Abstract

A cold plate based battery cooling concept was designed and a simulation study was conducted to analyze its effect from cell to vehicle-level.
A CHT model was developed in StarCCM+ to run Steady State simulations at different mass flow rates; calculate the maximum cell temperature and HTC between the cold plate and the coolant. The HTC values calculated by 3D solvers are used as input for the 1D battery thermal model, which is integrated with a radiator circuit and further with the vehicle model.
